Biological Safety Cabinets (BSC) are containment and protection devices primarily used in laboratories and pharmacies working with biological and chemical agents with a primary purpose of protecting the worker and the environment from viable organisms and hazardous agents.  Class I BSC's are essentially obsolete as they do not protect the product.  Class II BSC's are Laminar Flow Biological Safety Cabinets that protect personnel, product, and environment.  They provide an inward airflow to protect personnel, a downward flow of HEPA filtered air to the work area to protect the product, and then exhaust HEPA filtered air to protect the environment from particulate and aerosol hazards.

Key Types

• Class II Type A - Approximately 70% of the air of each cycle is recirculated through the supply HEPA filter
• Class II Type B1 - Approximately 40% of the air of each cycle is recirculated through the supply HEPA filter
• Class II Type B2 - 100% of the air of each cycle is exhausted through the exhaust HEPA filter

Services

All testing and services are performed to NSF 49 specifications.

• Performance testing of the cabinet including complete air flow analysis and filter leak tests
• Decontamination (paraformaldehyde) / HEPA vacuum cleaning of cabinets depending upon use
• Complete repair and maintenance service including filters, motors, switches, lights and ballast, and electronic board replacements
